How to Increase Our Skin’s Luminosity Throughout the Winter~

Colder, drier air can bring some (mostly not welcome, argh…) changes to our skin, so let’s give a shout out to what we can do to not only keep up our luminous glow, but to increase it through the winter…

quenched skin~

1)      If you are surviving without a good hydration product (a luscious, water-based liquid or gel applied under your moisturizer) let’s end the drought marathon right now! Our skin needs water applied topically (even when we are drinking adequate amounts of water).  A water-rich liquid or gel applied under our moisturizer both am and pm is a super-efficient way to keep our skin quenched and lush with hydration. If you are wondering what product could possibly do the job, take a peek at these beauties…

hydrating options~

Stonecrop Toner (lightweight mist)

Mist Me (lightweight mist)

Ylang Ylang Hydrating Elixir (medium weight mist)

Neroli Hydrating Elixir (heavy mist)

Emerald Sun Hydrosol (heavy water with a pump top)

Probiotic Serum (gel)

Soothe Essence Serum (gel)

Aloe Vera Calming Gel (gel)

peaceful skin~

2)      If your skin is sensitive, prone to pink or rosacea-prone, the dryness of winter can escalate flare ups. Let’s calm it all down with an anti-inflammatory product applied under our moisturizer both am and pm. (This may be applied over the top of a hydrating product):

crucial moisture~

3)      The right moisturizer has long been a staple for helping our skin maintain a healthy, supple, more youthful texture, and this is true ten times over in the winter. A good moisturizer for your skin will keep your skin balanced (not too dry, not too oily) and be full of beneficial ingredients (antioxidants, peptides, vitamins, essential fatty acids, and trace minerals. To make things easier on us, all the moisturizers at Rich Earth are chock-full of deeply nourishing ingredients.). If needed, step up to a richer moisturizer in the winter months. Moisturizers are listed from lightest to richest.

the magic of a good facial oil~

4)      If you have normal-to-dry skin (that is not breakout prone or prone to clogging), a good facial oil can work like magic all winter long to keep your skin velvet soft and glowing.  Oils are exceptional for helping to keep crucial moisture locked in your skin, so they make an exceptional teammate to your hydration product and your moisturizer. A facial oil can be patted on over your moisturizer, or applied along with your moisturizer, or applied under your moisturizer. This balm and these oils are simply gorgeous, and are made to combat winter dryness.  (Pro-tip: Good facial oils compliment our hydrating products and moisturizers, they do not replace them.)

 bonus practice~

5)      Once we’ve got our skin richly hydrated, moisturized and glowed up with a good facial oil, it helps to brighten our luminosity by keeping our circulation boosted! Exercise in general is always great for boosting circulation, but facial exercise specifically and microcurrent (both the home microcurrent device and the professional microcurrent treatments at Rich Earth) are truly exceptional for boosting healthy circulation AND for firming and toning our facial skin as well. (Yay to all that!)
